Stefy is a female-fronted pop band from Orange County California, consisting of Stefy Rae (vocals), Sean Meyer (guitar), John Gaviati (keyboard) and Andreas Brobjer (drums).

Inspired by Blondie, Queen and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs the band, formerly known as "The Lovely", centres around raven haired singer Stefy Rae.

Rae was originally signed to Columbia Records when she was fifteen years old, but the solo life didn’t work out and quickly prompted the formation of the band. The MySpace friendly group has been widely compared to early No Doubt (Stefy? Stefani?) with it’s vivacious punk-pop front woman.

Rae credits her quirky, Bolivian grandmother who was also a singer, as the inspiration behind her pursuing a music career. "My grandmother is a wild child," Rae said. "She isn't afraid of anything. I remember her singing live on the radio all the time in Bolivia”

Stefy’s debut, The Orange Album, was released by Wind-up Records on August 28 in the US. Their first single, the strutting electro-stomp "Chelsea", with a keyboard sound lifted straight from the Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams”, was released in June 2006. Chelsea was also featured alongside another Stefy track, "Fool For Love," on the soundtrack to the relatively forgettable teen movie ‘John Tucker Must Die’

Citing her influences as David Bowie and Prince the band’s sound is far more in tune with 80’s groups such as Blondie or Berlin. Stefy herself is clearly revelling in the 80’s era revival, sporting legwarmers and big hair; she embodies the sugar rush of teen pop on stage.

As of October 2006, Stefy finished shooting the music video for their second single, "Hey School Boy", which has just been released state side. They join a growing trend for interactive videos by offering fans the chance to be “cut” into the final production.
